15 High Dynamic Range Images
by Hoof on Nov.13, 2008, under Digital Photography
I love finding these great HDR images!
What is HDR?
HDR is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of exposures (the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDR is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

New Rising Form of Graffiti
by admin on Nov.09, 2008, under Digital Photography, Reviews
I can’t believe I am writing about this, I can’t believe this is happening but it is very cool and great to see! What can you possibly say if you entered a staircase to find the cold metal handrail wrapped in colorful yarn? Other than smile what would you do if you are walking through a park and come upon a tree wrapped in brilliant colors in the dead of winter? Take a look at this “movement?” and see that it isn’t just about pot holders and blankets anymore. I applaud this creative graffiti, or rather public art form.

Horror Photography Inspiration
by Hoof on Oct.25, 2008, under Digital Photography
As Halloween approaches, take a look at these artists and the work they have created for your inspiration. Horror Photography has several aspects which try to solicit fear, horror and terror from their viewers. It’s that time of year, and as a kid trick or treating images such as these ran through my mind as I approached a house an knocked on the door. The adrenaline rush overtaking all senses, the little voice in my head telling me to Run! The flight or fight and the hair on the back of the neck signals rushing to your brain…what will you do?
Growing up I loved Halloween, sitting with friends watching horror movies like; The Exorcist, Halloween, Phantasm, The Shining, and Poltergeist. We would watch them before going out into the night and when we got back, letting our minds play tricks on us as we wandered the streets.
Searching through these images brought it all back and I am ready to have some fun scaring kids this year! Time to start preparing the house!

Paint Engine
Paint Engine Beta 1.1 is a plug-in filter for Adobe Photoshop compatible
plugin hosts. It is a highly configurable paint effects processor
that works with RGB images.
Not sure what all that means so I had a look to see what was under the hood. I found it simple to use and that it really does create some beautiful effects. There are ~73 different brushes/effects to choose from with intensity settings to give each a different strength.
